Interrail Trip starts here

So, the start of the European rail adventure starts here.  Waiting patiently for the first of many trains over the next few weeks in sunny Newport.   It will be interesting to compare the stations and trains I'll be visiting. Newport is a sad, neglected station, which they're trying to smarten up. But it will always be just Newport.  London trains from Swansea and Cardiff usually stop here.

I've just boarded the train, and because it's Easter Monday, I suppose I had to expect it be full, with very few seats unoccupied.  Fortunately, I had a seat reservation. But this seems to be be riguer on all trains throughout Europe now.  I've booked my seats all the way to Poland, so I can relax now (unless more rail strikes are called).  For now, I can look forward to an early night in a small hotel near St. Pancras,. My Eurostar train leaves at 6.16 am. Check in is at the ungodly hour of 4.46am!

More to say about that tomorrow!
